Note: Use this codes at your own risk, some of them may damage your phone. Also the codes may not work on every phone, especially if it has a custom rom e.g. cyanoganemod.

Looking to buy a second-hand android phone? Do you fear that something can be broken to it? Don't worry you are in the right place. Here are a few secret codes that will help you test if the phone is good and help you do a few other things:

This one will give you some basic information about the phone and the battery. It should work on any phone, and you will find 5 categories of info:

  1. Phone information
  2. Battery information
  3. Battery history
  4. Usage statistics
  5. Wifi information

This opens the Service Menu that will allow you to make various tests of the phone sensors, display, audio etc.

This one will do a factory reset, in other words it will delete this things:

  • Google account settings stored in your phone
  • System and application data and settings
  • User-installed applications

But it will not remove:

  • Default phone applications
  • SD card contents, like: photos, music files, videos, etc

Important info about phone's camera. The menus are:
  • Update camera firmware in image (this may damage your camere)
  • Update camera firmware in SD card
  • Get camera firmware version
  • Get firmware update count
